2026 Age Groups
Playing age groups are determined by the player’s year of birth. It is possible to play up a year, but generally not possible to play down an age group (unless dispensation is given for height / weight by the governing body). Consideration is given to players wishing to play with their friends.
Year Born & 2025 Season Age Group
- 2014 = U12s
- 2015 = U11s
- 2016 = U10s
- 2017 = U9s
- 2018 = U8s
- 2019 = U7s (non contact, playing last 5 rounds modified contact rugby)
- 2020 = U6s (non contact)
- 2021 = U6s (non contact)
- 2021 – 2022 = Joeys
Season Dates (Minis U6-U9)
Official Mini’s games in 2026 start on the first weekend of May and are played on Saturday mornings on the Northern Beaches, with some Gala days being arranged in April as warm-ups / trials. Weekly training commences mid March. The season runs through until late early September, with no games during school holidays.
Season Dates (Juniors U10-U12)
Juniors play ‘XVs’ Rugby in the Sydney Junior Rugby Union graded competition. There will be a grading gala held on 29 March 2026, with Round 1 from 24/26 April 2026. Club age group trials (if necessary) will be held in early/mid March. The SJRU competition is held on Friday nights and Sunday mornings and played through until late August. Training commences towards the end of February.
No games during school holidays.
2026 Registration Fees
Rugby union remains the best value of all winter activities, offering more and costing less. Fees include comprehensive ARU insurance, council ground fees, competition fees, coaching and playing gear. All you need to add are boots and mouthguard:
- Joeys: $50
- U6 & U7: $140 – Early Bird $125
- U8 & U9: $265 – Early Bird $238
- U10, U11 & U12: $275 – Early Bird $248
Player Transfers
There are many reasons for players to change clubs. However, there are SJRU competition rules which restrict some transfers. Please contact the club to ask about transferring to the Roos.
