Wet Weather Reports

Grounds are considered OPEN until we’re notified otherwise by Council on the wet weather lines or their websites. If Keirle Park is closed on a training day, then training will be called off.

All Northern Beaches Council Fields: 9976 1699  (for Manly Roos, Seaforth, Harbord, Forest, Dee Why, Collaroy, Narrabeen and Newport ovals.)

Visit this site or call the number first, then your Team Managers, who will make sure the team is aware of any cancellation.

The SJRU also contacts Councils to see what grounds are open, and advise the Club on Friday afternoons whether the round is going ahead, or is to be cancelled (when over 50% of grounds are closed). The Club will advise coaches/managers of any cancellations.

Team Manager must also contact the opposition team managers as soon as possible to advise them if Keirle Park is closed. If the round goes ahead (ie more than 50% grounds are open), it is up to the teams to organise a replay of the missed game, otherwise both teams will miss out on competition points. Once you have done so, contact juniors@roosrugby.com.au cc secretary@roosrugby.com.au and we will notify the SJRU and referees.

World Rugby Lightning Safety Guideline

The 30/30 rule should be used to ensure participant and spectator safety:

  • Shelter should be sought when there is 30 seconds or less between the flash and the associated thunder clap.
  • Thunderstorms have a tendency to reverse course and come back over an area that that they have just passed. Recommendations on best practice also state that it should only be considered safe to return to the field of play a minimum of 30 minutes after the final flash of lightning or clap of thunder has been seen/heard.
