Reece Hodge, the all-running, all-passing, all-kicking star, has now completed his rise from Manly Roo to Manly Marlin, to Melbourne Rebel, to Australian Wallaby. He was selected today to join the Wallaby squad to replace his injured Rebel teammate Mike Harris.
Reece has been a familiar sight at Keirle Park in recent years, practicing his goal kicks from the opposition 40m line. He played five-eighth and centre for the Roos until the U17s in 2011, and for the Marlins for the last two years, kicking over Sydney Road at will. But in the Rebels he has been noticed for his hard running and versatility across the backline. It has been great to see an Australian centre who can catch, run AND pass!
Congratulations Reece! From your first minute of game time in a gold jersey, you’ll become the 7th Wallaby Life Member of the Roos, joining your old Roo and new Wallaby teammate, Michael Hooper.
