In a letter to the Roos club, Mr Abbott said:
“I want to wish the Manly Roos good luck for the beginning of the 2015 season. The great thing about sport – all team sports – is that you’ve got to have a go and you’ve got to join the team.
As a former rugby prop, I know that this team sport creates and extraordinary sense of camaraderie. My teammates from my playing days at the university of Sydney are still friends today. These are invaluable traits on and off the field that Roos players will carry or the rest of their lives.
