Stew Davies – Club President Standing Down

GOODBYE, FAREWELL and ADIEU

To all the wonderful Roos people it is time after almost 6 years for me to call it a day as your President. I feel that my expiry date is well and truly due!!  I have had a fantastic time with the Roos and will still be around to help on the BBQ as my son Sam is still playing the U11s.

There are too many people to thank, but to all past and present Committee members, Mums and Dads, thank you all. I have had many memorable times with the Roos, especially…

  • The 50th year dinner
  • The U11’s State Titles that we hosted in 2011, 2012 and 2013
  • The Adults Only night at the Manly Skiff Club and DY RSL
  • The impromptu drinks on the Roos balcony with the hard working Roos workers after a long day at Keirle Park!

I wish Josh and the Committee all the best for the future, but as I have stated before, the Roos need more help from, all the age groups to maintain our wonderful tradition. The Roos have produced 6 Wallabies in our 50 years (more than any Junior Rugby club in the nation) and I can see many more to come. I am so proud of current and former Roos who have gone on to become Prefects and School Captains in their senior years’ at High School. . I believe it is a testament to the Roos culture that we have such fine young men becoming leaders.

I would also like to thank my wife Deb and family for their commitment to the Roos and for putting up with my sometimes annoying behaviour!!

Finally, thank you ALL for all your hard work in making the Roos a truly great rugby club.
