The Roos’ senior team, the U16s, won their B competition Grand Final and now hold the silverware as Premiers for the year.
On a cracking spring day that felt more suitable for a game of cricket, the boys played a very hard fought game against a combined Hornsby Wahroonga team. The fantastic 31 – nil score did not reflect how close the game was, against a team with whom we shared the honours at one win apiece during the competition rounds. We were only 5 – 0 up at half time, which reflected the closeness, but a 2nd half ‘no holds barred’ forwards’ pick and drive performance, combined with some slick handling and straight running by the backs, pulled us through to the final whistle. The boys celebrated hard in KFC afterwards – don’t go looking for any chicken out Concord way …it’s all gone.
The U16s are looking forward to showing off the Cup at the Presentation Day on September 14th.
