ARU Registration Requirements
The process of registration, Insurance and Budda are interlinked. All participants (Players / Coaches, Match Officials, Club Volunteers / Officials) must be registered with the ARU in order to obtain coverage under the ARU National Insurance Scheme.
The following is an outline of the essential requirements of ARU Registration:
- A Participant (or their parent / guardian, if under 18 years of age) must register with the ARU on the prescribed ARU Registration Form (either hardcopy or online) and agree to accept and abide by all the Terms of Registration as outlined on the Form.
- Players must be registered (as per item 1 above) prior to participation in rugby, including before playing any match, trials or training. Coaches, Match Officials, Club Volunteers/Officials, Team Management etc must be registered (as per item 1 above) on acceptance of a position or appointment.
- The Participants registration information from the prescribed ARU Registration Form must be entered into Budda by the Club’s Registrar.
- No Participant should be entered or renewed on Budda unless they have registered (as per item 1 above). A Participant who is not registered is not insured.
- The Club is responsible to ensure that the original hard copies of the ARU Registration Forms are stored securely for a period of seven (7) years.
Registration Deadlines
Registration deadlines are the responsibility of the Competition Manager and are outlined in the local Competition Rules.
For the purpose of attaining participation figures, the ARU will set a deadline for when Budda registration information is to be finalised.
Player Transfers (Domestic – within Australia)
There may be practical reasons for players to change clubs. It is a directive from the ARU, that any player wishing to transfer between Unions/Zones must complete the ARU Domestic Transfer Application Form prior to registering with a new union. The Domestic Transfer Application Form can be obtained from [TBA].
By completing this form, the tracking of players is easier within Australia, along with preventing suspended players from simply switching unions to continue playing.
Example of Domestic Transfer Process:
- A Randwick player wishes to play in Perth.
- The player completes the Domestic Transfer Form.
- Randwick Club signs the form, thereby verifying that the players is not “under suspension”.
- Randwick / Player sends the form to NSWJRU (Governing Union).
- NSWRU signs the form and sends a copy to the player along with a copy to the “new” Perth Union.
Club to Club Transfers
Club to Club transfers are governed by local competition rules and are not affected by the transfers within a Union.
